I was thinking of getting a compact APS-C body to complement my full frame main due to the resulting versatility of lens combinations. For example, I can use my 50mm f/1.2 on APS-C as a 75mm f/1.8 lens with the same exact rendering, instead of buying another lens. Likewise I can use something like a 28mm f/1.5 lens on APS-C as a casual and highly compact 42mm f/2.2 setup or mount it to the full frame body as a wide angle. I use rangefinder lenses.
The area where this setup seems mildly troublesome is carrying both cameras at once with different lenses, which however is the point of getting a second body; to avoid lens swapping in the field. Typically I'd want a standard or telephoto option on my full-frame camera and a tiny wide-angle pancake on a tiny body, but with APS-C crop it actually seems to make more sense go the opposite way, i.e wide on FF and standard on APS-C.
What do you guys think and what are your favourite compact APS-C bodies? The Z30 looks great to me but I'd prefer it to have IBIS and potentially a hotshoe mounted optional EVF, but that's kind of a pipe dream. Other options include going with two full frame bodies (e.g Sigma fp + my main) or sidestepping the issue by getting a GRIV.
