>>3984602That's interesting. Sometimes it's not possible to overexpose when the scene is dark and has high contrast. Then I'm out of luck and end up with a grainy image. I always thought newer sensors produce less noise because of improved technologies, manufacturing process improvements, etc. But I'm no expert about this.
When shooting high ISO photos with my CCD camera I've often wondered whether I should max the ISO to 1600 & overexpose, or do a "normal" exposure at lower ISO (~800) instead. I haven't bothered testing this out. This thread makes me want to see if there are some visible differences in the images.
Pic is another ISO 1600 shot I took. Lucky to have f1.4 lens with me to be able to capture the moving train at 1/125s.
