>>3151177I'll volunteer a couple of my own photos. If you go to white sands and your photos aren't bright white then you're probably doing it wrong.
>>3150492As much as I love film, it's kind of hard to recommend it to a beginner when digital exists and is so much more forgiving with so much more opportunity to learn quickly. But if you're set on it then shooting film is very rewarding and fun, if it's your thing. It's also tedious and a lot more work.
Like the other anon said, absolutely do not ever put it in checked baggage because the x-ray scanners are much more powerful (honestly don't put any photography gear in checked baggage considering how they treat those bags). Put your film rolls in a ziplock bag and you can ask TSA to hand-check it, but I never really bother with that anymore. I've never had issues with film that's gone through carry-on x-rays even several times.
Film cameras span the full evolution of cameras from the most primitive all-mechanical all-manual brick shithouses to cameras which are basically DSLRs-but-with-film that have autofocus and matrix metering and all the electronic nannies you could want. It's up to you what you want to use.
