A "huge telephoto" lens is unwieldy on any camera. Further, it's not about "satisfying" the photographer with a minimum acceptable number of millimeters. This isn't sex. There are photos that can be taken with a telephoto lens that can't be taken with a normal focal length lens. You being "satisfied" by 40mm is irrelevant to the conversation and no one cares anyway.
