for anyone trying to get a film look, here's my recommendation. Get the Archetype Kodak Pro pack for Lightroom. They're color profiles. You can find a .zip download online if you look carefully.
Set the contrast of your image to -100. Apply the film color profile of your choice. Dial back in the contrast slightly. Opt for crushed blacks and plenty of headroom in the highlights rather than clipped whites and more shadow detail.
Add grain in LR. Look at a film scan you like and try to match the size and amount of grain. I typically go for a larger grain size.
