im new to DSLR and photography in general, i just picked up my first camera and i mostly want to take photos of things going on in the city at night. (low light, bright lights, high contrast between the two) i have been told that a fixed lenses with a low F number will be better for this, everyone online seems to point to the 50mm 1.8 lens as the end all noob lens to buy, but upon adjusting my zoom lens to 50mm, this seems pretty cropped, is 50mm too large? should i get a 35? am i not even correct at all and on the wrong page altogether?
