So, I've recently got myself a Lumix G80 (also known as the G85, if you're from 'Merica) and have been thinking about shooting 4k as standard from now on. The problem is, my only work station for editing is DaVinci Resolve in a really mediocre laptop, and perhaps unsurprisingly, editing 4k footage in it can be an absolute hassle since there's a massive delay between the timeline and the preview window. As such, would it be possible to 1) create and resize copies of my clips in 720p, 2) use the clips in 720p for the non-linear editing and, after I'm done with the process, 3) use the "relink media" option to instead replace them with the original 4k ones for the final rendering? Or are there any issues in replacing clips with a different resolution?
Sorry if this sounds like a retarded and excessively complicated process but I really can't see too much of an alternative until I get a proper work station. I'm also a newbie in this by the way, please be gentle.
