>>3961953>I take exception to people buying things to seemingly do nothing with those things except talk about how they bought them and the theoretical capabilities of the thing they bought, because that's waste of money and time. I.e.: I have a 1DIs that honestly what you're taking exception to, though? The point of the Veep sketch, if that's what you're talking about, is that there is a time and place for the 1D.
We're not arguing against the sensible photographer in Veep. The problem we have here is people (whether or not you're one of them) seething over others buying simply adequate gear for the intended use case, just because it happens to be nice and up to date. I think deep down they're just sour grapes 1D guys who couldn't afford the 1D, and take it over anyone who ever buys anything nice. Let's not forget that the sensible photographer has a 5D, which was arguably Canon's top of the line body for that use case at that time.
Really the only people here you need to talk out of buying expensive gear are complete beginners who are looking for bodies to improve their photography, and usually a few replies in it becomes clear that there's nothing wrong with their body, they just need to get some lights or maybe a different lens or try a different technique. And in those cases they usually get pretty decent advice and are sent off to make genuine improvements in their photography, which is what we should all be striving for, not shitposting and
