A crop sensor does not change the focal length of the lens. The matrix is smaller with a higher pixel density. The enlargement has to do with matrix size and image output to fill the frame. Yes, the image in enlarged by whatever the crop factor is, but you are not losing anything accept field of view.
>>3934132> It's not zoom at all.Sematics aside, it does magnify the image. A 50mm on a crop sensor nikon with a crop factor of 1.5 is like using a 75mm on a full frame. Crop sensor cameras are good for gain reach with smaller lenses vs full frame. A 400 mm on a crop sensor is like using a 600mm on a full frame.

How is that different to crop?I don't think there would be a huge difference assuming your crop sensor camera is 20mp. However, the crop sensor would be a 1.5 times the size of the 40mp frame. there would be less pixel density if you zoom in to the same size. There is probably something to be said for better image quality with a crop sensor because of having the image formed from using the entire sensor on a given frame, but I dont' really know.
