I've got a somewhat similar experience. I'm something of a gear dilettante, so in addition to my main system where I have a shitload of gear for every occasion, I've also dabbled in damn near every other system just to see what they're like.
My A7 II and my X-T1 fit basically the exact same niche for me, of a small and lightweight unobtrusive camera that I can grab and bring with me wherever. They both have a very similar shooting style, both have a flippy screen, I have similar lenses for both.
There's just two big differences:
1. The A7II has *vastly* better image quality. Absolutely blows the X-T1 out of the water. Like, just look at DPReview's studio comparison. The Fuji is just absolutely shamed
2. Every time I use the A7II, I get frustrated by its user interface for even the tiniest things.
So I pick up my Fuji to shoot pretty regularly, but I haven't touched my Sony since August of last year.
And yeah, a newer Sony probably fixes a lot of the problems I have with my ancient A7II, but just the design philosophy that Sony has is very "We need this feature to tick a box, so add this feature" rather than "We need to make this feature to improve the shooting experience".
I've shot with Nikon, Canon, Leica, Fuji, Olympus, and Panasonic cameras, and Sony's user interface is the worst out there. When I shoot with my Fuji, it makes me want to shoot more with my Fuji. When I shoot with my Sony, it makes me want to sell my Sony and buy a better Fuji.
