>>3890429DFD is good enough for S-AF. Most CDAF is more than capable of delivering good results for 80% of photography.
C-AF is where CDAF can fail a lot. That's why Panasonic developed DFD, so that the cameras have algorithms that understand all the specs of the lens and focus mechanisms to get a better performance than just pure CDAF.
Of course, DFD sucks when compared to PDAF or Canon's DPAF, but Panasonic makes the most of their not so great relationship with Sony. I know Panasonic do make their own sensors for things like broadcast cameras, but those are 3MOS sensors.
Panasonic really made a big improvement to their AF with the S5 camera, and that ultimately is what let them roll out firmware updates to the likes of the S1, S1R and S1H as well as their G9, G100, GH5S and BGH1. The original GH5 has an older processor, and as such can't take up this update, but hey... Panasonic is more effective than you may think.
>>3890464Olympus have been innovators bringing things like Live View, IBIS and even fully articulated screens to ILCs before competitors. They're still at it though. On MFT they've innovated in pixel-shift high res, live composite photo modes, IBIS + IS synchronisation and now, Live ND modes.
