>>3591342He means the lens is clinical = free of characterstics unique to it. 'Character' might be the 'glow' of uncoated, or single coated lenses (abberations), the swirly bokeh of some of the Helios-44 models (not well corrected), or similar 'flaws'. Some like them, some don't.
If you're looking for a lens faster than f/2-2.5, the best compromise of all factors is probably the Voigtländer Nokton 50/1.5.
