>>3999072>Cameras are on par with dedicated lab scanners like a Noritsu.bruh I work at a lab, I would never waste my time, effort, money, or an opportunity to scratch my negs double handling them on a lab scan, even with an expert operator on the highest possible quality settings.
Those machines were all designed before the DSLR paradigm of image quality existed. People thought a 12x18" was a big enlargement, people's computer screens at home had <1000px long edge, for most normies the IQ level seen in a coffee table landscape photo book or gallery was simply not attainable with regular equipment.
Those 6x9 scans I did with a Canon 550D, and I've never had anyone here produce evidence of a better quality MF scan short of a drum scan. I now use an A7r2 and there really is just no comparison out there in shatbed world; i'm at the point where my next step to improve IQ will be a dedicated schneider or nikkor industrial scanning lense. It's definitely overkill for my snapshits, but eh, man needs a hobby.
