>>4282648You dont prefer it just because its xtrans, but because its 40mp downscaled to match 26mp. If you sample a circle with a 4 pixel block, it will look way worse than if you sample a pixel with an 8 pixel block and then scale that to 4 pixels.
You can test this if you ever end up owning an x-t4 and then an x-t5, or an z6 and then a z7, and it does make a difference in smoother, less aliased fine detail, fewer sharpening artifacts, etc, or you can just test it with the dpreview chart's "comp" setting. IRL you would basically notice that hair, foliage, etc looked more natural on the high res camera if you downscaled instead of pixel peeping 100%-200% zoom at 100% size. By the time you reach 100mp, aliasing basically does not happen in any real world scenes and it looks better at 50mp and 25mp than a camera with that native resolution (as long as you scale in post using the correct algo instead of pixel binning in camera).
