Designing a sensor preparing the wafer masks for manufacturing is actually insanely expensive when we reach these high-end manufacturing.
In a sane world, Nikon would have saved money and designed just 1 sensor for D850 and Z7.
Just like Sony designed just 1 sensor for A7Rii, A99ii, and A7Riii. Moves like these are economical and save money.
But instead Nikon literally paid money to cripple the D850.
