Focus shift is usually insignificant for standart focal range near 50mm. In any case you need to shoot with closed aperture, so this is not a problem. I'm getting shart result with 40/2.8 stm even open wide. Yes, some lenses have a shift, but mostly for wide angle.
If you are shooting with LW or mirrorless camera focus shift not a fucking priblem anymore. If your lens can focus at this distance - you get focus by contrast.
