>>3270054Are you viewing the images on a really large screen? I have one that's 3 feet wide. I don't pixel peep, but the screen is so large that I can easily see lots of grain/noise in photos. It has made me become a ISO 100 or less purist now. Too bad my camera only goes as low as ISO 100.
The best things you can do for clearer photos is to use a low ISO, double check the focus indicator if your camera has one, and use f/8 for clarity. How low you can go with the ISO will depend on the lighting, use of tripod/handheld, and if the subject is moving or not. Otherwise, handheld means you might get motion blur. Like for this macro shot, the subject isn't moving, the camera is on a tripod & macro rail, I have a strong ring light, the camera was in LiveView with mirror up, and I'm using an IR remote. All that allows me to use the lowest ISO possible because I can use any length of exposure. Since the lens is reversed for this shot, I couldn't rely on the focus indicator. Instead I used the + button while in LCD view to focus peak then use the macro rail to adjust focus.
Thus, there is as little noise as possible, the clarity is as clear as possible, and the focus is as sharp as possible. Yet, when you pixel peep, to full size on the monitor (as seen in the right image), you can see things still look a bit out of focus/blurry.
