It's hard to dispute that it's a great point and shoot. Well made, feels good in the hand and is nice to carry everyday. Aperture controls and exposure compensation give it something a lot of other P&S cameras don't have.
Obviously todays prices are crazy, but I paid $250CAD for mine 5 years ago. I wouldn't touch it with the current prices, but would easily pay $400CAD for a nice one.
Yes it's become a meme, thanks to bloggers and youtube people, but it's still a great camera once you get past all the hype.
