>>3787272Thanks for the feedback, Cupid! "Almost staged" is a good way to put some of these prairie scenes. This summer I did about 10 thousand miles driving around obscure prairie places. It's such an open landscape with lots of nothing, but then I come across something like that and it's almost comical how perfectly placed all the elements are. That old flat-nosed truck looked like it was parked at the ideal angle just for me.

>>3787571For backpacking I use the small RRS tripod. It's super sturdy, but only about chest height for me (and I'm not tall). Very light too. For day hiking or near the road stuff I use a gitzo something or other. Mountaineer I think? I honestly don't know what series, it's not a monster but weighs maybe 70% more than the backpacking one and can go just over my head. Honestly it's complete shit and way overpriced. If it so much as touches water or sand it needs a complete overhaul. Every section removed and cleaned or it completely locks up the next day. It's only 3 years old too and they claim it's "dust sealed." The RRS tripod is older and I've never once taken it apart. I will certainly never buy a Gitzo again.
Here's some E100 at twilight.
