can't say much about who is the "best modern photographer". since photography art world is so big. and massive amounts of new work is getting published. its very hard to catch up on every publication for me personally. since there is no community on internet who discusses new photobook releases or just photobooks in general. like /mu/ discuss new albums, even in meme way but still. they make charts at the end of year and then give recommendations to each other. when there is a community of many people who regularly discuss and keep up with new releases, its easy to discover boundary pushing artists and new good work.
anyway i really loved Max Pinckers's Red Ink.
and overall i really fucking love the work of Feng Li.
