Anybody used both the 55-200mm and the 50-140mm for landscaping and nature photography?
The 50-140 f2.8 is the nicer lens by far, both in aperture, auto focus, and it's ability to work with the 2x teleconverter for a ~300mm wildlife lens. But the damn thing is expensive as hell, and the lens by itself weighs over 2lbs. Meanwhile the 55-200mm is half the price and more importantly just over half the weight, but has no teleconverter compatibility and isn't weather sealed either. It also expands out ridiculously at full zoom, see pic related.
I'm don't care for dropping a bunch of money on a heavy-ass telephoto I'll hate lugging around out on a trail. Has the 55-200 worked out for any of you?
