>>3387425I'm kind of split on it. I mean tentholes are good use of framing and triangle composition so I guess that makes them a good photo in terms of composition if you can produce some interesting subject inside the frame. However it's incredibily overused, kind of uncreative and people often use it just because it's tenthole and looks good on instagram. No actual context with the rest of the photo. Plus hiking for three hours just so you can unpack entire tent to use it as frame, take photo and then hike back is completely retarded in terms of actual /out/doors. I mean look at the picture, what kind of idiot pitches their tent so close to the water plus leaves it open when going cayaking?
Same goes for nice contrast with yellow jackets, drone shots from above and patterns etc. etc. They're comfy and nice to look at, but kind of consumer grade. I mean most of the time people hate on these is either sour grapes or just tfw too intelligent to enjoy non-fine art photo.
tl;dr Are they actually good? For instagram, yeah... for photography not so much. I mean, what is lifespan for such photo? 2-3 days, 10 days if it gets reposted on some bigger hubs or goes viral. Such photo won't have any value in longer terms...
