>>2720092The other beautiful thing about a slightly less fast but easier to use lens is when you put a flash on it, shoot wide open, and in Av.. You can generally shoot with or without the flash and not do anyhting exept switch the flash off.. or fire once with flash and again before the flash cycles, and both will be exposed correctly, focussed,m and with a DOF that is useful for almost anyhting you point it at.
In days of old I would put a flash on my ME Super and the M 28mm/2.8 set to f/8 and focused to 3m.. then i could point and shoot at anyhting out to about 10m (iirc)
I use the 50/2.8 the same way, but it's even easier and produces better images in most respects becasue you are actually focusing rather than relying on hyperfocal, and the TTL flash is mostly just backup.
Difficult to explain I guess, but it's good. Faster lenses would be less good i'm sure.
And before anyone asks: this is an AF160FC ring flash.
