>>3770202What's with this self-defeating "deserve" mentality? There are literally unlimited free threads. There is no scarcity. You wanna make a photo thread? Go for it! That's EXACTLY what this board was created for. I bet your photos are better than you think they are.
This place used to function just fine without an RPT, which wasn't invented until, I dunno, 2012 or so by Burtgummer. We had tons of tripfags and unique posters, all of whom made their own threads saying "hey look what I shot these last few weeks." or even just "hey I shot a roll of ektar, here's what I got." And then we would either discuss it or ignore it, the thread would die and we would move on.
So hell yeah. Make your own thread. Fuck anyone who says "NO THIS SHOULD GO IN AN RPT". It really is a junk drawer approach to organizing a board.
>>3770203Gear threads don't function well as a general thread, either. They become these impossibly long threads where board tourists ask questions that never get answered, people bicker over their preferred camera brands, and they don't actually stop the creation of new gear threads. Nothing will. People will just get frustrated and make their own thread when they can't find the answer they want, and all the tongue-clucking in the world won't stop that. Instead, it's actually BETTER to have multiple gear threads, but let them die. Someone posts a thread that asks WHAT GEAR GOOD WHAT CAMERA GET, someone answers quickly and succinctly, they're satisfied, the thread dies and sinks to page 10. With a more active bump order, that would happen very quickly. It would be even helpful if someone made a handy infographic that showed exactly what cameras good for that season.
