>>3336380All film emulsions are sensitive to near UV. In most conditions that isn't an issue but it can appear as haze in landscape shots in direct sunlight, reducing the clear visible distance. I'd say it's only useful with teles if you intend to take long distance shots like pic related.
Yellow filter is universally useful for b&w, I only leave it out when shooting indoors. Red filter is handy for dramatic effects but I rarely use it because I like to go all the way and just shoot infrared. Blue can fuck up your sky detail but it exaggerates fog and mist, also it can be used as color correction filter for daylight color films when shooting indoors. I've never really used green for anything, supposedly good for shooting plant parts.
