>>4130658I don't think you can fake halation with filters - iirc its caused by the layers in film and light bouncing between them.
I use diffusion filters regularly and the result is great to cut the digital look a bit. See attached.
The effect varies greatly on lighting condition but ive used it somewhat successfully to fake sunset with flash and gels.
