Bad news is that most probably you'd be better off with old Canon Rebels or even with some point and shoots. Same priced zs60 has a viewfinder that your cam lack and a lot better lens at shorter focal distance. This is why you ask for advice before you buy a cam.
Good news, you've bought a zoom cam. You've fantastic magnification range. Use your cam longer ranges and learn composition that way. Getting a good shot isn't easy, but if you stick to it, it is immensely rewarding.
