The methods you mentioned are means of convenience when capturing scenes in that dynamic environment, where, barring auto settings, you're capturing brief moments and so on. That's hardly sunny16/guesstimating, setting your camera to optimal generic conditions to snap stuff quickly. I don't know your intention but your post sounds like you're telling me off for doing stuff by the book, which seems ridiculous. I really want to understand what motivated you to post that.
