I don't live in a shithole yet bands rarely if ever seem to care about marketing photos to the point of actually paying for them. promotional material is rarely needed on level more complex than outdoors photo on brick wall background snap by band girlfriend and commercial live music photography is obsolete and as good as dead with smartphones and social media.
i'm still going to grind my shutter on shitty bands in dive bars because I love it (and free entry to all events is nice) but there's very little money here. would be nice to have at least some cash to supplement my dayjob and i might have to train myself in any other genre that's more viable
