The EOS R looks mighty good. I'm rather heavily invested in Canon lenses so it would suck for me to ditch all my gear to adopt a new system. I was relieved to see my EF lenses will still work on the EOS R camera with a small adapter. The only thing I don't know anything about is pricing.
* Full Frame mirrorless sensor
* -6 EV (oh my GOD!)
* DPAF which works with all video modes.
* 5,655 AF Points (WTF?)
* 30.3 MP sensor.
* 1/8000 sec shutter speed.
* Control Rings on RF Lenses !
* 4K video (with some limitations)
* New RF Mount lenses for new tech advancements.
* In-camera USB charging (with LP-E6N).
* Also takes LP-E6 Battery + LP-E6N
* Weight: 660g with battery + memory card.
* Takes SD/SDHC/SDXC cards.
* 3 different Adapters... for EF lenses, for drop-in filters (!).
* Takes EF lenses (with a small adapter)
* Takes EF-S lenses (with a small adapter)
* Allows long lenses with Extenders and even assigns a Control Wheel with the Adapter to older EF lenses.
* New RF lenses include several new L-series models with the release of the Camera and a new Macro lens and a new Flash.
Downside:
* 1x CF card slot (so what? ever had a camera fail? That's why you carry a spare. Those people who's cards failed often use cheap cards and never Format them.).
* 4K video is at 30fps (not a deal breaker unless you're obsessed with 4K 60p or intend to make documentaries with prosumer cameras).
The only complaints I'm seeing is that some folks are upset that their EF-M lenses (which are cheap and light) won't be able to fit on an RF mount. Do they fit on an EF mount? Nope. So what?
There's plenty of room for Canon to grow with this system but they're yet to make an official statement since the leaks surfaced. Can't help but wonder if the leaks were intentionally made by Canon to dent Nikon's new FF mirrorless announcement last week or so.
