>>3421196>>3421197Let's get this party started then.
Firstly I'd recommend that everyone reads both "The Negative" and "The Print" by Saint Ansel. The reason why my black and white conversions are good is because I worked exclusively with large format b&w for over two years and did all the developing myself.
The most important part is the understand that you need light to show dark, and vice versa. You need a reference. In order to make a snowy peak stand out and "glow" you need to have a darker sky.
With that said here's what everyone came for.
For the sake of simplicity I'm not going to cover raw conversion. I use either Lightroom or CaptureOne. Depends on the image. I don't set my white or black points in lightroom, but I might do so in C1. I turn off any kind of sharpening, since they're all shit.
Now let's get on to pic related. This is SilverEfex. Do not buy it, you can still find the freeware version on the internet. SilverEfex is superior to the b&w tools in lightroom, I have not tried doing b&w in C1, so I wouldn't know. But I doubt it is as good.
The tab on the right are the settings I used. I generally do not use the curve adjustment inside of silverefex, I like to be able to mask. I use the same settings on most of my images.
