Just stick with the 14-42 for a while. Give it like a year or something. See if you like the hobby and save up. Sounds like you'd be out in the daytime mostly hiking, so the f4 of the 12-45 shouldnt be a problem, plus that lens has a partial macro capability with a closer mfd than most others which is something you'd be into you mentioned. The main thing is its cheaper than the more popular 12-40. 12-45s go for $600-700aud here used which is about $400-$480usd. Thats only a couple hundred more than youre looking to spend on an extra lens. Plus right now everything is inflated af. In a year, they might be even less. Put the cash to the side and save up while you learn.
