Our old memes are based on our interactions with other /p/hags, but that doesn't happen any more.
Pre covid I would regularly see and talk to people I knew by name because they'd added me on facebook, including maybe a dozen local photographers.
But then covid happened, and now its all about instagram or shit i mind-block like dicktok, and i dont know anyones real name, dont get approached to talk even by people i regularly shoot, and rarely see any photographers that stop to talk.
The last few weeks has been cringey zoomers trying to be tubeillionaires by making video of stupid shit. They dont want to have a conversation or banter, they seem to want edgy sound bytes and epileptic imagery of hyper-seinfeld-tier useless shit.
So times change.
I've seen a few cycles in the 12 years that i've been doing my current camera thing. The social aspect seems to be generally in a prolonged low phase at the moment.
Obviously the reduced social interaction of people in general, and us /p/ enjoyers, isnt conducive to our memes.
But by definition; memes are : 'just stupid one liners'.
