>Otherwise, always set the lens at d/4.5That's the thing: I cannot control exposure that way: the camera will always think the aperture is set at -for instance - f/3.5, but optically it's at f/4.5 while I'm zooming at 70mm. Picture related: as you can see there are two lines indicating aperture, with colors matching the color of the focal distance.
