1.) flashes err on the cool side of the spectrum, especially cheap ones. on velvia this may go blueish/magenta
2.) flash highlights blemishes. velvia's tendency to exaggerate reds will further highlight them.
3.) velvia's limited dynamic range gives you the ability to create really dynamic images that will exaggerate the utilization of your aperture to underexpose ambient light, resulting in an extremely poppy subject
4.) velvia is a pretty specialized film. if you're looking for standard portraits it's probably not the best choice. but, if you're wanting a certain punchier look and your not shooting gingers or people with naturally red complexions, i'd say go for it. you can always reduce red in post too.
