>>3383617Well firstly what does the client want as deliverables?
If the band wants a full recording of their set lock one camera off on sticks in the back capturing the full stage. Thats your safety wide.
Roam on the other camera (handheld is fine if you trust your steadiness) grabbing 'highlights': primarily the band performing from multiple angles, faces, fingers strumming strings, crowd loving it etc etc. Hold on each highlight roaming shot for at least 5-10 seconds before quickly moving and finding another shot. Rinse repeat.
In the edit use the safety as your bottom video track and sync the highlights camera on top. Cut out the stuff of you re-positioning and there you have it.
For sound get a external recorder (like a zoom h5 or something) and ask their sound guy for a balanced line out (they always appreciate when you have your own xlr cables). Try to avoid live sound from the camera. If you HAVE to then throw a videomic on the safety wide camera. Pull down the gain as much as possible (like -10 on the mic and as far as you can go in camera). Position as close as possible to a speaker.
