Probably what you are referring to with price is making a camera with equivalent resolution to medium format film. That is trickier (but also nowhere near $6k to produce at this point).
If you just want to manufacture a camera that has the same sensor size (not resolution!) as medium format film that's no sweat from a technological point of view. Just have to get the tooling process for production up and running.
Pretty soon someone will make something like the Light L16 but not as retarded. Just a camera that looks like a typical DSLR/Mirrorless or Medium Format camera but has maybe four full frame sensors arranged in a tight 4x4 grid, and merging is done via software.
Still need good lenses tho
