>>3636512Retro 80S=TMax 100>Delta 100>Acros>>FP4+=Fomapan 100
The first 4 show very small differences. There's a jump from t-grain to traditional grain, and desu that's the only noticeable one in terms of resolution (and grain). Within the same family (t grain vs traditional grain) and speed, differences are small.
Also mind you, this is purely for resolution, not grain size. Those two don't always go together. For instance, Acros has perceptibly smaller grain than Delta 100, and maybe a hair smaller than Tmax 100, yet it's lower in resolution.
This can affect perception sometimes, for instance you might find more pleasing the small grain and very smooth, grainless skies/uniform areas of Acros, even if you lose a tiny amount of small detail.
(Retro 80S has the smallest grain, by a small margin).
In general, don't nitpick between films of the same technology and speed. It's only worth considering traditional grain vs t-grain, and speed of course, when it comes to graininess and resolution.
Then you should focus on the characteristic curves of the films, to see how they build contrast and how the respond to filtration.
For instance, Retro 80S is contrasty and I'd shoot it pulled 1 stop almost always, to tame it. Also it has extended red sensitivity, so a red filter has a really strong effect on it.
Acros has slightly reduced red sensitivity. A green filter will have strong effect on it. Also it has amazing reciprocity (lack of). Stuff like that, along with price, are more important factors than small differences in grain and resolution.
