>>3726054It's hard on the battery but it does work. The current draw means that the battery will start to drop out if the charge is any way below optimum but it'll still work without I.S. enabled.
But after years of old slow zooms and shit it's a fucking revelation to have I.S. in a lens. I've been spamming it all summer.
It also helps that it's fairly cost-effective for a red-ring lens - only the 17-40mm is cheaper and that has no stabiliser.
Even the Macro mode is amusing the use.
The 24-105 might be technically better, but it's pricier by a third and even a thousand euro was really pushing it.
24-70 is lazy. But when you've a small travel bag and don't want to carry a shit-ton of primes it's fine. When I'm going on hildays I want to put more shit than lenses in my luggage.
I brought an old 28-80 USM I paid 70 bucks for and a 50mm 1.4 with me on holidays and that was the perfect combination.
