>>3830110The majority of these issues are edge cases which are not going to affect the speed and functionality of the camera in daily shooting. No one’s gonna need a self-timer on a Hassy on a regular basis. If you jam it and are too clumsy, just send it in to have it unfucked for $60.
If you screwed up lock-up and can’t slow down shooting, just burn a frame as the others said. No big deal.
Any medium-format lens from the same era will be soft wide-open. Even the RB/RZ lenses. Just keep the aperture frozen at 5.6 and above unless it’s an emergency or you’re doing extremely demanding street work.
The electronic Hassys have a great reputation, what are you talking about?
The EV coupling is indeed irritating and is the main reason I sold my kit. I’m not paying $900 for the CF just not to have this feature.
>>3830155>the best MF cameras ever made are the Contax 645 and the Rollei 6000sAmen.
My 6x6 endgame has been a Rolleiflex for day-trips and the C330 or 6006 depending on what I need.
I “downgraded” from the Hassy to the 6008, and then the 6006. The 6008 was great but the mirror lock-up was in a non-intuitive place, so I saved even more money with the 6006. It’s faster, more intuitive to use, better-designed, comes with multi-coated lenses as a standard feature, and only about half to 2/3 the cost of any Hasselblad. Problem is it’s 1/3 heavier. Not to say the Hassy is particularly light.
Here’s the funny thing with that. My C330 with the 80, 65 and 50 is lighter on the whole than the Hassy with the same lenses. The C330 might be seen as “clunky” or “heavy” compared to the Hassy but they’re really about the same weight. The C330 really doesn’t deserve its reputation.
The Hasselblad is great for what it is: an SLR designed in the 50s. It’s basically the Contax IIIa of the medium format world. But it’s extremely overvalued due to rich boomer collectors who don’t realize there’s a lot better out there now.
