In saying that, I've also seen a lot of good about the recent Sigma lenses that have come out, and they're damn - uh - I won't say "affordable", but certainly "less expensive".
Do you live somewhere you're likely to be able to try before you buy, or like me, live 5hrs drive from the nearest proper camera shop?
I got the S1R based on reviews alone, the size when it arrived sure surprised me!
I wouldn't trade it for anything, I freaking love it, but man, she's a big girl!
Here's a pic from the other day... it was a bit tricky because I had a tele lens and couldn't move back any further, so you lose the feet ha ha oh well.
I think in this instance it doesn't really matter?
Not on a Pana, just The One I had With Me that day.
