She reminds me of mystics who wrote poetry for God except she did photography for photography's sake not for fame or the desire to be praised or getting published or for money but for herself and for photography. What a truly transcended artist.
On quality of "photography" is that I was having a conversion with a poet on /lit/ and he was telling me that he is aiming to write 8000 poems then edited them down to 80 or 100 poems for publishing. So all art us like this you produce a lot of work, most of which is shit and then you edit and publish the absolute peak of your work. So yes Vivian Maier is one the greatest photographer.
Sometimes I think about how many photographers like Vivian Maier were and they lost in time along their work forever into oblivion as everything will be, sooner or later.
