>>3329433To be fair, Pentax DOES have some great lenses, but they have so many lenses which are *almost* great, like the DA and FA Limiteds. The reason I say they are almost great is because while they have high quality metal barrels with high quality metal hoods and caps, and the optics are usually very sharp, the flaw is that they have screwdrive AF, lack weather sealing and many designs are rather slow, with maximum apertures as slow as f/3.2 or f/4 for some of them. Granted, there is the 20-40mm f/2.8-4, which has all metal construction, electronic AF and is weather sealed, but it's still not a very fast lens, and the corners are not the sharpest.
Here, for comparison, are Canon's EF lenses. The great thing about Canon is that there are a lot of L lenses, which have all metal construction, are fast, are sharp, and most are weather sealed. Many of these lenses sell for a bargain on the used market, especially if they are the last generation, and unlike with Pentax's SDM lenses, which are known for breaking, Canon lenses pretty much last forever.
