Pic isn't mine, but I have the exact same problem (also with D800) and I know one more guy who has the same.

The rubber has expanded, should I cut it down to size or leave it as-is?
I've looked on Ali Express, and D800 replacement rubber is 36 euro whereas same piece for D700 is only 12 euro, so I rather not buy a replacement piece yet.

And for adhesive I should use dubber sided tape, right?
Any particular type/brand that's better than the average tape?
