I just bought a 1080 SR11 Handycam to incorporate a dual camera setup alongside my current DSLR workflow. I like its ease of use compared to the 5dmk2, it has steady shot, face tracking and smaller file sizes in comparison to the DSLR. But similarly i still use my 5d for complete manual control for perfect shots.
I want both cameras for a documentary setting with the 5d being the primary, locked off camera. When should the handycam be used? Do i bring it out for impromptu interviews, a second camera for handheld shooting or is there more creative control in a way compared to the 5d?
The 5d is awesome, but the lack of optical stabilisation and a no zoom optics in my budget really limits my desire to bring it to every video shoot, but the handycam is comfortable to use yet too automated.
