I'm very rarely taking it out in the field these days because the MF-12 system is just so much easier to handle and adjust and the batteries usually last for a full day of shooting. Even with stationary macro and product photography, the MF-12 kit is likely better value for money (costs about as much as one of the flagship flashes).
I would assume that the V1's round head gives a slightly more evel light, but that doesn't matter anymore once you use diffusors. I chose the V860iii mainly because the specs are slightly better on paper.
