Thoughts on some of the cheaper 70-300mm lenses? I'm looking at Sigma here as well as the used Nikkor 70-300 f/4-5.6G and D-ED lenses on KEH which are all around $50-60.
I know none of them have image stabilization, but I'm just shooting for fun with a D7100 and want something cheap with reach. I'll probably pick up the Tamron VC USD model if they go on sale for black Friday or cyber Monday or something, but as it stands I only have a 16-85mm. I mainly want to photograph some of the Blue Herons that hang out on the river near me.
