>>3223433Lol no, I just mean I keep my camera out of sight because people get triggered if they see you walking with a front strap with both of your hands on it. There's like an instinctive reaction people develop when they see a camera - even if it's not pointed at them. Most of the time that reaction is "get away" or "cover up."
The one event that really convinced me was when I was just walking around downtown taking pics of random shit. A dude who would easily be defined as "Chad" was walking on the right side of who I guess was his GF. I'm walking down the right side of the sidewalk, they're on the left. As we get about 15 yards away walking past one another, this dude levels a fucking death-stare at me and swaps sides with his GF. I had the typical "CANON" front strap on and was holding my camera - but mostly to keep it from bouncing around while I walked, not because I was getting ready to shoot anything.
The chick is like, "honey it's ok," and the guy like turns to his side as we pass (even though the sidewalk was about as wide as a car lane) and covers the girl as I walk by. I dunno if she was famous or something - she didn't look special, just some chick.
Point being in all of this, if I had been walking with my cell phone up like I was looking in it and just being casual, douchebag would have never considered for a sec unless I made it super obvious that I could have been filming or taking a picture of them. But because I had this giant blue strap and a camera dangling in front of me - even though I had zero intention of taking a picture, the guy reacted incredibly defensive.
Ever since then, I've kept my shit as stealth as possible, because I'm tired of people looking at me like I'm some pervert when I'm just taking snaps - and could just have easily have done so with a phone and wouldn't get glared at like I'm a scumbag.
