>>4270737>What are your b&w workflows? If I shoot mirrorless I turn on the monochrome profile (I shoot RAW only - monochrome in cam is just for preview).
For post I load the RAW into Capture One and first try out some presets (Mastin Ilford, T-Max, etc) for what looks best. If nothing looks OK I go to the C1 Black and White tool and start to dick around with it.
If I really go out of my way with editing I adjust shadows/highlights (I almost never do this) or I even add a 2nd layer and play with exposing parts of the image differently.
But I'm lazy and I hate post so I mostly press my hotkeys which are assigned to Delta3200, HP5, Pan F and T-Max presets and mostly I'm happy with it.
I also tried Silver FX because all the B&W boomers swear by it but I don't want to have a 200mb TIFF file in my catalog that has been destructively edited.
For printing (which I often do) on my Canon 200 I almost always add +0.3 or +0.5 stops in exposure (because paper is reflective and doesn't emit its own light) and that's it. I print on cheap Ilford Studio Matte paper because I like the look and it's still affordable. But I have also tried out other papers and rated them (prices for A4 sheets):
