>>4039891You are done because you’re a retard. Sensor size is literally /never/ given as the perimeter around the outside of the sensor. That is a one dimensional measurement, for a device that produces 2D images off of a 2D surface area that captures a 3D volume of light. Have you ever heard FF format referred to as 120mm (the perimeter)? Or MFT referred to as 60mm? Or APSC as 79mm? No, because it’s beyond ridiculous.
36x24 is a 2 dimensional measurement, and is literally the area. It is the same as 864mm^2, but tells you a little more like the ratio and easier to visualise the size.
The size of an object is its dimensional product and not the length of its boundary (perimeter). The size of a 50x50x50cm box is exactly that as already given, 50x50x50cm (125,000cm^3, but 50x50x50 easier to visualise) And not 600cm. The size of a 3D object is not one dimensional, likewise the size of a 2D surface is not one dimensional. Perimeter is the one dimensional length of a boundary, and not the size of an object or surface.
